Perfect weather for #Chattanooga

Spring is in the air! The weather has been lovely, mid 60s to mid 70s most days.We did not travel for Spring Break this year, since we were just coming off of our Hawaii vacation high (and we received the credit card bills - ouch). But we do want to celebrate spring with a special day out. I lived in Chattanooga for a few years during college, and it is a phenomenal outdoorsy family vacation spot.

Best outdoor family activities in Chattanooga:

The Walnut Street Bridge
Chattanooga's walking bridge is a pedestrian-only bridge across the river. Lovely scenery of the High Museum and the Tennessee Aquarium, with cute shops, snow cones, and ice cream on the other side.

Coolidge Park
This riverfront park with carousel and splash pad was completed during my last year in Chattanooga - what a fantastic addition to a family friendly city!

Tennessee Riverpark
One of my favorites for lounging with friends and outdoor studying, the Tennessee Riverpark runs all the way from downtown Chattanooga to the TVA Chickamauga dam. It is paved for easy roller blading, biking, walking, and perfect for strollers. Along the way, you find many open grassy areas for picnics or relaxing.

Signal Point
Signal Point is part of the National Parks Service. Signal Point overlooks the Tennessee River between Signal and Raccoon Mountains. You take a fun, winding drive to get there and are rewarded with a lovely view.

Lookout Mountain
Lookout Mountain is home to Ruby Falls, Rock City, and the Incline Railroad, as well as hiking trails and beautiful vistas. (Insider secret: just at the bottom of the incline, check out Mr. T's for pizza and ice cream. We never miss stopping in for a huge cone.)

Chattanooga is a 1 1/2 to 2-hour drive from most suburban Atlanta areas. It is an easy and quick drive, and a fantastic day or weekend trip to enjoy some sunshine! And if the weather doesn't cooperate, you can visit the awesome Tennessee Aquarium, the IMAX, and the Children's Discovery Museum downtown. So much to do in such a lovely southern city!
