Sunday Story: 10 Games

Week number five of eleven. Sunday Story - based on an incredible prompt list from Daring to Live Fully, where I will eventually have a list of 100 things I love.

 This week - 10 games.
I am listing some of our favorite things to play with our sweet Amelia.

10 Games

  • Guess Who. This is a great children's game. Not the least bit annoying, and great learning tool about all the differences we see in people.
  • Chutes and Ladders. A classic. Easy to play and fun.
  • "Restaurant" Amelia's pretend game. We took inventory of all her plastic play food and made menus. We order, she serves us, and she even presents us with the check at the end of our meal.
  • The Ladybug Game. Cute game, easy instructions, and not overly childish.
  • Puzzles. Entertaining for parents, challenging (in a good way) for young kids, and fantastic learning, thinking, and observing tools for children.
  • "Store" Another at-home pretend game. We set books, shoes, and toys around the family room and she sets up her toy cash register with scan/beep action. We shop, she sells.
  • Craft time. We like to make crafts with household items. Toilet paper roll people, glue and rice pictures, and homemade bread dough ornaments. Standard art supplies are good too, but she seems to really get excited about using typical items in a different way for playtime.
  • Play-Doh. Some parents I know despise Play-Doh and it's messiness. I kind of love it. Play-Doh can occupy my child for a solid hour. The few minutes of clean-up afterward are totally worth it.
  • Beach Ball Baseball. We like to bat (with our hands) the beach ball around the foyer, then "run the bases" around the downstairs. Yay for open floor plan homes!
  • Sports. When we have nice weather, nothing beats backyard fun in the sun. We play tee ball, kick around the soccer ball, toss a football, or chase each other. Makes for a fun afternoon of family time.
